The Walking Dead Episode 1 Review

Just a few days ago I didn't even know this game ever existed but after being recommended to play/review I thought I might as well give it a try as the price is very cheap for one episode. I started this game with low expectations and at the end of the game all I could say is "BRING ON EPISODE 2" in this review I will tell you why it is that good.

One of the things that I loved about this game was being able to have the choice of what to say and do for example there could be an argument between two people and you can side with who ever you want or you can tell a lie to someone to avoid a question. The awesome thing that is added to this game is that the characters actually remember what you said and did so for example if you tell a lie and then not follow up with your lie by accidentally letting something slip they will call you out on your lie and the game changes with different dialogue. When there is an argument and you side with someone they will gain your loyalty but if you want even if you are loyal to them you can stab them in the back and side with the other non loyal guy which will cause problems between your former loyal group member.

The game also gives you some hard choices to make like for example at one point of the game two people are getting attacked by zombies and you can choose who to save and who to leave to be eaten. The problem is these people who you could leave to die might have family/friends in your group who will respond differently depending on your choice it kind of reminds me of the game Heavy Rain (Great game) where you have to make hard choices but in The Walking Dead there is a twist you are on a timer so your choices have to be quick and you have no time to think so you might end up making a bad choice because of the rushing.

The graphics are similar to games like the 2008 Prince Of Persia which means the graphics are art style. Some people might not like these kind of graphics but I think they look fine and don't ruin the game for me at all. Another similarity to Heavy Rain is the gameplay where you have to click buttons to do certain actions and also button mash a certain button during action scenes that are pretty tense at times. Some problems I had with the game was the walking controls I seemed to keep walking into walls and other objects because the camera and controls were kind of weird at first but once you get used to it it should play fine. There also seemed to be a few freezing problems during talking sequences for example you could hear the guy speak but his face would be frozen from time to time it was a little annoying after a while but again it will not ruin it for you.

The first episode takes about 2 hours to complete but you should never just play this once at all there is so many other options you can take you can play the game one time and be a jerk to everyone and take sides with people who are wrong or you can be the ultimate nice guy and look after everyone and bring peace to the group while the jerk you can actually egg them on to fight! So many choices and so many decisions you can make makes this game one to not only play but play multiple times!

The Final Verdict

The Walking Dead is the first of five upcoming episodes that I am looking forward to playing which is crazy because I didn't even hear about this game until a day before it was released. The price for this is affordable for everyone so I recommend you give the 1st episode a try and when you play it and love it you should buy
the season pass to get all five episodes for a very reasonable price. I defiantly recommend this game to everyone.

+So many choices and decisions
+Characters remember certain things which effects the story
+Tense actions scenes

-Controlling and camera
-Some freezing during talking parts

9/10
